More than just Manganese…

Micromix 15 High Surfactant v Flowable Manganese containing 500 g/l Mn
Long term crop production is dependent upon the continued availability of essential nutrients at the time and quantity required by the crop. Presently, with advances in formulation technology ensuring a high uptake of the specific micronutrient, it is possible to apply a product with a lower concentration per litre and obtain better efficiency than older formulations even though these older formulations may contain higher level of Manganese per litre.
The effect of this formulation can be seen when comparing the efficiency of MICROMIX ACTIVATED COMPLEXED HIGH SURFACTANT against two competitive formulations which actually have more manganese per litre but are relatively inefficient in getting into the plant.
These flowable formulations are based primarily on suspended particles of insoluble Manganese carbonate which have to be solublised on the leaf surface before the manganese can be utilised in by the plant. Trials during 1997 on Sugar beet show the differences in availability after 3 and 15 days for a given equal quantity of applied Manganese.
