Probe is an acidifying spray adjuvant that enhances a pesticides ability to penetrate the leaf surface. It may be used with systemic growth regulators, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and foliar fertilisers. These products have to enter the leaf to be effective but the hairy, waxy leaf surface acts as a very effective barrier.

PROBE causes the waxy surface to become temporarily permeable and so encourages rapid penetration. This ensures that vulnerable pesticides are not left for long periods exposed on the leaf surface where they may be subjected to breakdown and loss of activity. The addition of PROBE to spraying water also lowers the pH of the spray solution.

These more acidic conditions also help in the absorption of foliar nutrients and guard against pesticide hydrolysis. (See REACTOR for full information on buffering).
